Hello Podcast Family,
Have you heard any good comedians lately? As I mention in this Monday’s episode, one of my favorite comedians these days is Kathleen Madigan, but as I said, I still can’t resist a good Dave Chappelle routine. His is one of the names that will come up on Monday’s episode.
Our guest on Monday will be Evan Nierman. He’s the co-author of a book called, “The Cancel Culture Curse: From Rage to Redemption in a World Gone Mad.” He’s also the founder and CEO of the public relations firm Red Banyan. One of their specialties is something near and dear to my heart, and that is crisis and issues management. And after reading his book, I can tell you he’s my kind of crisis communications pro. Why? Because he doesn’t advise his clients to just roll over.
But the thing that caught my attention was an article he wrote for The Hill last year. The title for that article was, “Cancel Culture is no laughing matter: Comedy on the edge.”
In this episode, we not only talk about the issue of cancel culture affecting comedy, but more to the point, how a free society depends on the ability to comedians, and really just about anyone, to be able to make jokes about the world in which we live.
While our launching point in the episode is comedy, we also do a deep dive into how cancel culture can affect anyone, even you if you use social media, and what to do if the cancel mob comes after you.
